From the page to real life. Journaling shows up.

From the page to real life. Journal shows up.

You’ve got the routine down. Every morning you sit with your coffee, a lofi playlist, your journal. Your spot is perfect. You’ve got prompts for days that make it simple to know what to write.

But something’s missing.

The habit’s beginning to take shape but the results aren’t there. You’ve been journaling and you feel good, but your life looks the same.

Nothing’s changed. I know that feeling.

Putting in the work on the page is only halfway there. You have to take what you’ve learned and put it into action. Implement it into your daily life.

Your journal’s the blueprint. Now you have to start building.

This is where most people abandon journaling. They think it’s a quick fix. Sorry to burst your bubble but it’s not. People don’t want to hear this but it takes time. Sure, maybe a few people have a single breakthrough entry and boom, everything’s changed and better. That’s not realistic.

But if you stick with journaling for any length of time, change will happen. Maybe not all at once, but subtly.

For me, it was the drastic decrease in my anxiety. For long stretches, I didn’t even feel it anymore.

For you, it’ll manifest differently.

This Week’s Prompt:

How has journaling shown up in my life? How do I want it to show up?

Maybe decisions that were once way too difficult have now become much clearer without forcing them.

Conversations might happen differently. You no longer get as frustrated or stressed out when dealing with someone who has a different opinion.

Meetings with your boss used to make you want to strangle him. Now, he’s a minor and expected annoyance.

Give it a chance to work.

Journaling rewires how you process thoughts and emotions. The person you were before you started and the person you are now won’t be the same. If they are, something went wrong.

But as I said, that change may take time. Don’t throw in the towel too soon.

Work the process and the process will work.
